Larvikite is found in Norway and is name after the region it is
found, Larvik Fjord. It is a member of the Feldspar family and is also
called Black Labradorite, Black Moonstone or Blue Pearl Granite.
It is a lovely black/grey stone with flashes of silver.
Larvikiteis

Legend has it that it was it that it came to the world's attention in the 1890s when a Norwegiangeologist
saw it glimmering in the moonlight and recommended that it be submitted
as a stone from Norway to the World's Fair in Germany. It was voted
"finest rock", and has been used ever since in sculpture, jewelry,
architecture and counter tops.
